The Rethreads event is a clothes, music and book exchange, to be held at Carriageworks on Saturday 19th September 2009 (10am-5pm). Rethreads is presented by Carriageworks and the Clothing Exchange, in association with 2SER and Fbi.

Guys, girls and children can exchange up to 20 items of clothing, unlimited accessories, shoes, CD's, records and books in good condition. You can pre-drop your items Monday 14th September - Thursday 17th September (12.30pm-1.30pm) & Friday 18th September (9am-5pm) and enter to start swapping 45min before the doors open.

Garments will be screened at the door, and accepted items can be swapped one-for-one i.e. clothes for clothes, music for music etc.

Pigeon Ground and Newspaper Taxi are among the range of Sydney vintage stores with featured stalls.

Supporting the event is local music from 2SER, Fbi and a lineup of local live bands (live music includes sounds from Monsieur Camembert, Caitlin Park, The Slow Downs, One Mississippi and Robert McCrone), and you can also enjoy Carriagework's bar and cafe.

The IKEA Home Project

IKEA Home Project 2009
To celebrate the 30th birthday of the IKEA KLIPPAN sofa, IKEA invited 30 Australian artists and designers to create a series of functional designs, with the Klippan as their canvas.

The theme of the project is 'The importance of home', inspired from IKEA's support in rebuilding homes affected by the Victorian bushfires. Each piece will be exhibited and auctioned, with all money raised to be given as a cash donation.

The pieces will be exhibited at Carriageworks (Wilson St Eveleigh NSW 2015) from Wednesday July 29th to 4th August 2009 (Mon-Fri245 10am-5pm; Sat 9am-1pm). The online auction will go from 29th July to 4th August 2009 at

May Street Retrospective

The May's Lane Art Project is a laneway outdoor 'gallery' in St Peters. Invited artists create and display street art on the laneway.

Curated by May's director Tugi Baiong, artwork from the May's Lane Art Project was on display in the Carriageworks' foyer in a retrospective exhibition. The retrospective covers works of notable Sydney and international artists created from 2005 to 2008. The exhibition ran from Wednesday 25th March to Friday 6 April 2009.

Fashion Design Studio TAFE NSW Sydney Institute Annual Parade

Fashion Design Studio TAFE NSW Sydney Institute will be showcasing student work at its 2007 Annual Parade at CarriageWorks (245 Wilson St, Eveleigh NSW) on Thursday 22 November.

The parade will feature the best of Stage I, II and III with themes including Dylon Dyes - "Hill Tribes of Asia", Tailoring - "Redefining the past and protecting the future", Cocktail - "Reinventing the 40's"
